R.I.P. Vine.
The farewell address to everyone's favorite short-form video-sharing platform could be found all over the internet after Instagram announced at a Facebook event on Thursday that they'resupporting videos.
The split between Team Instagram and Team Vine swept Mashable's comments. Instagram's130 million users were impressed with the advancements: video filters, front-facing camera functionality and 15 seconds to record versus Vine's six-second clips. Meanwhile, Vine supporters defended the platform and the possibilities of a shorter recording time. In an attempt to keep the peace, a small handful pointed out that each had its merits, and people were free to choose either one or both.

The announcement nearly overshadowed the news that Facebook now allows users to add photos to comments. Most commenters were overjoyed to finally have this capability, although they said it felt overdue. Some comments pointed out that the feature would add a whole new realm of hacking, spamming and clutter on users' timelines. The biggest question on readers' minds, however, was when animated GIFs would come to the social network.
Outside of social-networking news, one photo out of China went viral online. Hairy stockings, designed to look like a man's hairy legs, made their debut on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like microblogging site. The bizarre accessory was created for women to ward off unwanted attention when their legs would be exposed in skirts or shorts. Although many readers were left cringing and confused, others noted that women shouldn't have to go to such extremes to avoid being harassed.
